Julia Gibson lives in Austin, Texas and joins Live Oak Collective after several years working with a community mental health agency. She is a licensed clinical social worker and specializes in anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship issues, disordered eating, and self-harming behaviors. Julia works with both individuals and families and treats people 10 and older. She has training in EMDR, nurturing parenting, DBT, play therapy, and sandtray therapy. She also has a background in motivational interviewing, grief therapy, and the neurosequential model of therapeutics.
Julia loves how therapy can build safe and powerful relationships that act as a foundation for self-exploration and self-compassion. Therapy can be a safe place to practice skills that will help you reach your goals. Julia believes that even being a small part of someone’s journey is an honor. She focuses on welcoming each client exactly as they are while fostering hope and staying curious about how best to meet each client’s needs.
Julia and her husband have a pug named Beezo. They can frequently be found outside with him as he tries to befriend the neighbor’s donkeys. She also enjoys walks in the woods, trying new recipes, and listening to live music.
